What is a baster used for?

cooking

A baster is a kitchen tool used for cooking to spread liquid (usually oil or a marinade) onto meat or poultry while roasting or grilling. It is typically made of a plastic or glass tube with a rubber or silicone bulb at one end that is used to suck liquid into the tube. The tube is then squeezed and the liquid is released, allowing a cook to evenly baste meat with sauce or juices. Basters can also be used to remove excess grease or fat from cooked meat.
